The collectible Telegram username market ended the week with mixed results: trading activity declined, while total trading volume increased.

12 min read

The collectible Telegram username market ended the week with mixed results: trading activity declined, while total trading volume increased.

The main changes took place in the premium segment. While mass-market sales weakened slightly, individual high-value names drove an increase in overall trading volume.

At the same time, the distribution of capital across username length categories shifted noticeably. Alongside traditionally expensive short combinations, longer usernames with distinct meaning and commercial appeal played a significant role.

Key market indicators

  • Number of transactions: 8,638
  • Total trading volume: ≈ 894,751 GRAM
  • Average transaction price: 103.58 GRAM
  • Median price: 10 GRAM
  • GRAM price at the end of the period: ≈ $1.38
  • Estimated trading volume in USD: ≈ $1.24 million

The gap between the average and median price remains substantial. This is a characteristic feature of a market where a large number of inexpensive transactions coexist with a small number of sales whose prices can be hundreds or thousands of times higher than the typical level.

Comparison with the previous week

Compared with the October 3–9 period:

  • the number of sales decreased by 5.4%
  • trading volume in GRAM increased by 13.1%
  • the average transaction value increased by 19.6%
  • estimated USD trading volume increased by 5.7%
  • the GRAM price at the end of the period decreased by approximately 5.0%

A week earlier, the market recorded 9,135 transactions with a comparable trading volume of about 791,374 GRAM.

Despite the decline in transaction count, the market managed to increase its monetary volume. This points to a shift in trading structure: the contribution of expensive assets increased, while the number of ordinary transactions declined.

The difference between the growth rates of trading volume in GRAM and USD also reflects the impact of changes in the token's exchange rate.

Thus, positive growth in monetary volume does not indicate a uniform increase in demand across all categories. To understand this development, it is necessary to examine the distribution of sales by username length and price range separately.

Market structure by username length

4 characters

The premium segment retains its leading position

  • sales: 77
  • volume: ≈ 413,871 GRAM
  • median price: ≈ 5,219 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 46.3%

Four-character usernames retained their position as the largest market category by monetary volume.

Compared with the previous week, the number of sales decreased by 12.5%, while trading volume fell by approximately 12.3%.

However, the median price did not decline. Instead, it increased slightly, from 5,094 to 5,219 GRAM.

This distinguishes 4-character combinations from most longer categories. Their high typical value is linked to the limited supply of short names rather than exclusively to a few exceptional sales.

Thus, the decline in trading activity has not yet been accompanied by a noticeable weakening of the price level within this category.

5 characters

Growth in monetary volume despite fewer transactions

  • sales: 1,859
  • volume: ≈ 116,967 GRAM
  • median price: 10 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 13.1%

The number of sales declined by approximately 3.8%, while trading volume increased by 24.5%.

The main contribution came from several expensive names that accounted for a disproportionately large share of the category's monetary result.

At the same time, the typical value of a 5-character username remained low. The category continues to encompass two substantially different markets: inexpensive mass-market combinations and individual attractive names for which buyers are willing to pay a significant premium.

The week's growth therefore primarily reflects activity in the latter segment rather than a general increase in prices.

6 characters

Declining trading activity

  • sales: 1,328
  • volume: ≈ 60,807 GRAM
  • median price: 10 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 6.8%

The number of transactions decreased by approximately 13.5%, while monetary volume fell by about 6%.

The decline in trading volume was less pronounced thanks to several large sales.

Notable examples include @repent at 10,000 GRAM, @sister at 8,999 GRAM, and @length at 4,700 GRAM.

Together, these three transactions provided substantial support for the category.

Across the rest of the segment, 6-character usernames continued to trade predominantly at relatively low prices, with demand remaining selective.

7 characters

The strongest growth in monetary volume

  • sales: 1,033
  • volume: ≈ 145,679 GRAM
  • median price: 10 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 16.3%

The 7-character segment recorded the strongest positive growth in trading volume among the main username length categories.

The number of sales decreased by approximately 11%, while monetary volume increased by about 225%.

This divergence can be explained by the concentration of capital in a small number of premium assets.

Interestingly, buyers in this category placed high value on very different characteristics: recognizable names, cultural associations, and unusual symmetrical combinations.

Thus, seven-character length is not a determining factor in value by itself. The individual qualities of a name, which allow it to stand out from ordinary offerings, become far more important.

8 characters

Trading volume increased despite lower activity

  • sales: 986
  • volume: ≈ 61,601 GRAM
  • median price: 10 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 6.9%

The number of transactions declined by approximately 4.4%, while monetary volume increased by 87.5%.

The main contribution came from expensive, meaningful names whose prices stood well above those of ordinary 8-character combinations.

One feature of this category is that eight characters allow for a complete word or recognizable name while still maintaining relative brevity.

However, this characteristic does not guarantee a high price. Most sales remain within the mass-market range, while premium valuations are primarily associated with individual attractive names.

9 characters

Moderate growth in monetary volume

  • sales: 881
  • volume: ≈ 36,192 GRAM
  • median price: 10 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 4.0%

The number of sales remained almost unchanged, declining by approximately 1.6%.

At the same time, trading volume increased by 25.4%.

One transaction worth 10,500 GRAM made a significant contribution. Without it, the category's monetary performance would have been noticeably weaker.

The 9-character segment remains predominantly a mass-market category in which individual expensive sales can have a substantial impact on weekly statistics.

10 characters

A noticeable decline in trading volume

  • sales: 680
  • volume: ≈ 14,774 GRAM
  • median price: 10 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 1.7%

The number of sales decreased by approximately 3.1%, while monetary volume fell much more sharply, by 36.3%.

This was one of the most substantial declines in trading volume among the main username length categories.

Unlike the segments that recorded growth, 10-character usernames did not receive comparable support from large transactions this week.

As a result, the category maintained a certain level of trading activity, but its monetary contribution to the overall market weakened noticeably.

11 characters and longer

Stable activity and growing trading volume

  • sales: 1,794
  • volume: ≈ 44,860 GRAM
  • median price: 10 GRAM
  • share of total trading volume: 5.0%

The number of transactions remained virtually unchanged, with just two more sales recorded than in the previous week.

At the same time, monetary volume increased by approximately 45.6%.

Notable transactions included @mellstroyofficial at 5,000 GRAM, @poundrefund at 3,000 GRAM, and @nbayoungboy at 3,000 GRAM.

These examples demonstrate that even long usernames can retain significant commercial appeal when they contain a recognizable name, a thematic expression, or an established association.

However, demand remains highly uneven: in most cases, greater length is associated with a lower typical value.

Largest deals of the week

The combined value of the five largest sales reached 133,227 GRAM, accounting for 14.9% of total trading volume.

Compared with the previous week, the monetary volume of the TOP-5 increased by approximately 166.7%.

Notably, the ranking did not include a single 4-character username. Two positions were occupied by 5-character names, two by 7-character names, and one by an 8-character name.

1. @discord — 59,000 GRAM (≈ $80,034)

Discord is the name of a globally recognized communication platform associated with online communities, gaming projects, and digital communication.

The defining feature of this name is its worldwide recognition and strong association with a specific service.

A 7-character username is not among the rarest in terms of length, but the commercial and semantic appeal of this name allowed it to far exceed the typical price level of its category.

This was the largest sale of the week.

2. @known — 25,727 GRAM (≈ $35,571)

Known is an English word meaning "well-known," "familiar," or "widely recognized."

It is a common word with a broad range of potential applications in the digital world.

The name is a natural fit for media, social, information, and personal projects because of its associations with recognition and public visibility.

Its 5-character length is an additional advantage: the name is short, clear, and easy to remember.

3. @aaaaaaa — 20,000 GRAM (≈ $28,868)

This username consists of seven identical letters A.

Its appeal differs from that of ordinary dictionary words. Here, the main sources of value are visual symmetry, unusual structure, and ease of recognition.

Such combinations form a distinct category of collectible digital names whose value is primarily determined by the rarity and recognizability of the character sequence.

4. @telepath — 15,000 GRAM (≈ $20,769)

Telepath is an English word referring to a person with telepathic abilities.

It is associated with thought transmission, extraordinary abilities, and communication, creating a broad range of possible associations.

Such a name may appeal to technology, entertainment, gaming, and creative projects.

Its advantage lies in the fact that it is a complete, recognizable word rather than a random combination of characters.

5. @lambo — 13,500 GRAM (≈ $18,284)

Lambo is a widely recognized informal shortening of Lamborghini, associated with expensive sports cars, luxury, and high status.

What makes this entry particularly interesting is that the username was sold twice within the same week.

On October 13, it sold for 8,400 GRAM, and on October 15, it changed hands again for 13,500 GRAM.

The difference between the two consecutive sale prices was approximately 60.7%.

This is an interesting example of a short-term resale of a premium digital name. However, the price difference should not be treated directly as net profit without accounting for fees and other potential expenses.

Market distribution by price segment

Up to and including 10 GRAM

  • sales: 6,656
  • share by number of transactions: 77.1%
  • volume: ≈ 52,643 GRAM
  • share of trading volume: 5.9%

The mass-market segment retained its dominant position by transaction count.

However, trading activity declined: the number of sales decreased by approximately 6.6%, while monetary volume fell by 7.5%.

Despite the large number of transactions, this price range continues to account for only a small share of total trading volume.

It contains the bulk of ordinary usernames sold at relatively low prices.

Over 10 and up to 100 GRAM

  • sales: 1,179
  • share by number of transactions: 13.6%
  • volume: ≈ 34,445 GRAM
  • share of trading volume: 3.8%

The number of sales remained almost unchanged, declining by approximately 1%.

At the same time, monetary volume decreased by about 14%.

Thus, buyer activity in this range remained relatively stable, but the average transaction value declined.

This indicates a shift toward lower-priced offerings within the segment itself.

Over 100 and up to 1,000 GRAM

  • sales: 682
  • share by number of transactions: 7.9%
  • volume: ≈ 135,319 GRAM
  • share of trading volume: 15.1%

The mid-priced segment showed moderate weakening.

The number of sales decreased by approximately 2.4%, while monetary volume fell by 6.5%.

Despite the decline, the category continues to play a meaningful role in the market structure.

It contains assets whose values are already substantially above the mass-market level but have not yet reached the prices of the most expensive collectible usernames.

Over 1,000 and up to 10,000 GRAM

  • sales: 113
  • share by number of transactions: 1.31%
  • volume: ≈ 504,541 GRAM
  • share of trading volume: 56.4%

This range retained its position as the largest price segment by monetary volume.

Compared with the previous week, the number of transactions declined by 3.4%, while trading volume decreased by approximately 3.3%.

Nevertheless, the category continues to form the foundation of premium trading.

It includes many short collectible combinations, as well as longer names with strong individual appeal.

Unlike exceptional record-breaking sales, this range generates relatively consistent trading volume in expensive digital assets.

Over 10,000 GRAM

  • sales: 8
  • share by number of transactions: 0.09%
  • volume: 167,802 GRAM
  • share of trading volume: 18.8%

The highest-priced segment recorded the strongest growth.

The number of transactions increased from two to eight, while their combined monetary volume grew almost sixfold.

The increase in the number of such sales is significant: the result cannot be explained by a single record-breaking transaction alone. Several exceptionally large deals took place during the week.

However, this range remains extremely small in terms of transaction count and sensitive to the appearance of individual rare assets.

Brief Conclusion on Price Structure

Sales above 1,000 GRAM accounted for approximately 75.1% of total weekly trading volume, despite representing only 1.4% of all transactions.

A week earlier, these price ranges accounted for approximately 69.5% of monetary volume.

This indicates an increasing concentration of capital in the premium part of the market.

At the same time, trading activity in more affordable price segments generally declined. Therefore, the increase in overall trading volume cannot be taken as confirmation of equally strong demand for all types of digital names.

Weekly summary

The main feature of the period was the widening divergence between the mass market and premium digital assets.

Short collectible combinations continue to command high typical prices due to their limited supply. However, the largest individual transactions demonstrate that scarcity based on length is far from the only factor determining value.

A name's recognizability, meaning, visual structure, and potential applications can create substantial additional value regardless of the number of characters.

At the same time, the market's dependence on a small number of expensive transactions makes weekly statistics sensitive to individual events. For this reason, an increase in overall trading volume should not yet be interpreted as evidence of a sustained rise in prices across the entire market.

Main conclusion: the Telegram username market remains highly uneven. The mass-market segment provides liquidity and transaction activity, while premium names account for the majority of monetary volume. To assess how the market develops, it is particularly important to monitor whether the typical value of assets increases, rather than focusing solely on the volume of individual large sales.
